Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil feels exactly as you would expect a facial oil to feel like—oily.
Once it’s applied to your skin, however, it definitely doesn’t feel overly oily or uncomfortable. I think this has to do in large part because of how little product they recommend you use.
You can definitely feel that you have an oil on your face, but it doesn’t feel overpowering or make you feel like the oil is going to transfer to your clothes or pillowcase.
It also has a very hydrating feel upon application, which was really refreshing as a base for my other face products.
Application
Application of Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil is super simple. I was actually surprised at how easy it was to apply the oil, since that can be a tricky consistency to work with.
Simply apply 2-3 drops to your face, neck, and chest after you’ve cleansed your skin. You can also use it in places such as your hands and back of you arms, where you can easily get dry skin.
However, I just opted to apply it on my face, neck, and chest. I also specifically applied two drops of the serum under my eyes, which is instructed to do to help reduce fine lines and hydrate that fragile skin.
The oil was super easy to move all over my face, neck, and chest, and I was surprised at how covered my skin felt despite what little product I had used.
Once Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil has started to absorb, I applied my other face products. Drunk Elephant instructs to use it with a serum, but I opted to use this in place of my face serum.
While it didn’t say how often to apply Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula oil, I ended up just using it at night. While someone with dry or normal skin could use this during the day too, I found that it impacted my makeup wear throughout the day.
Drying Time
Since it is a facial oil, Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil never truly dries. Even after I had applied my other face products on top of the oil, I could still see a sheen on my face that I don’t normally have.
However, after 15-30 seconds of having it on my face, you can tell that Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil has begun to sink in and start to “dry down” as much as a facial oil can.
I was so surprised at how quickly it dried! Most face serums don’t even dry that quickly.
