Overall Opinion:
If you’re looking for a face serum that’s super easy to use, then Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum might be one you consider. However, that would be a mistake. The act of using it may be nice, but what it does to your skin is definitely not.
As a hydrating serum that costs only $13, this face serum definitely seems appealing from the outside looking in. Once you actually use it, you’ll find that it’s odorless, fast drying, and only needs to be used once a day.
Unfortunately, after about two weeks, you’ll also likely find your skin extremely dry and broken out in acne. And with a brand new website that is sketchy at best, there may be few options for getting your money back.
While there is a lot to love about actually using Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum, it leaves your skin much worse off, and does anything but hydrate your skin. This is definitely a serum you’ll want to skip, no matter what your skincare goals are.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is extremely thick. It’s actually difficult to get it out of the dropper because of how thick it is. It feels more like a gel than a face serum when you drop it into your hands, but it actually doesn’t feel thick when you apply it.
When you apply the serum to your face and neck, it feels pretty watery. It thins out significantly on your face, and you have to move pretty quickly to get it into all of the areas you want it before it dries down.
Once the serum has dried, it doesn’t leave behind any residue at all, which was super surprising because of how thick it felt initially. So overall, it was a really comfortable face serum to wear.
Application
The application for Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is super easy. While getting out the right amount of product is somewhat challenging because of how thick it is, you really only need about 2-3 drops to cover your entire face. Just keep in mind that the drops are really big.
So to actually use this serum, you’ll make sure your face is clean and dry, and if you use a toner, make sure you’ve used that and allowed that to dry, as well. Once your skin is completely dry, use 2-3 drops of serum and massage it onto your face and neck. I found that this dries really quickly, so you have to move quickly to make sure it covers all of the areas you’re targeting.
Once the serum is dry, follow up with your moisturizer and any other skincare products you use. Also keep in mind that this serum is meant to be used at night only. However, since it doesn’t leave any residue behind, I’m not sure why you couldn’t use this during the day under your makeup or daytime skincare products? I just opted to use it as directed, though.
Drying Time
Based on how thick Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is, I was really surprised at how quickly it dries. Like I said, you have to move pretty quickly to make sure the product reaches all of the areas you’re targeting when applying.
Once you first start applying the face serum, I would say it’s dry and without any residue in 15-20 seconds. I absolutely love a short dry time, so this is definitely a plus for me!
Smell
Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is completely odorless! I don’t mind fragrances in my skincare products, but I know a lot of people do, so this is definitely a positive for this face serum.
Immediate Results
I normally try new face serums out at night first anyways, but since Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is intended for nighttime use only, that’s when I first applied it—obviously.
My initial thoughts were how strange the consistency was. It was thick in the bottle, but applied thin, and dried without any residue, all of which was really strange! Beyond that, I didn’t have any thoughts about the product itself.
The next morning, my skin looked totally the same, so I didn’t have any immediate results.
Long Term Results
Despite being a face serum that was enjoyable and easy to use, Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid ended up being a horrible face serum for me. To begin with, despite being designated a hydrating face serum, this really dried out my skin. After a few days of using it, I had dry skin almost everywhere on my face, which is super embarrassing and uncomfortable.
I also started to notice an increase in acne spots, and by two weeks in, I was having a total breakout all over my face. I haven’t had acne like that since high school or earlier. It was both painful and unattractive, and once I stopped using the face serum, my skin slowly started to clear up and the dry skin went away.
So while the face serum might be great as far as incorporating it into your nighttime skincare routine, it does terrible things to your skin and is definitely not worth it.
Price/Value
Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is absolutely not worth the money. As a hydrating serum, it does the exact opposite. After using it for two weeks, my face was extremely dry and completely broken out in acne.
I was also really uncomfortable with the website. They had random information about furniture delivery, which has nothing to do with skincare obviously, so it feels like they repurposed the website or aren’t actually giving much thought to their skincare line. Either way, it made me feel like I couldn’t trust the information on the packaging either.
This may be an extremely affordable face serum, but Essy Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is not worth a single penny as it will leave your skin worse off.
Guarantee
Essy does offer a money-back guarantee on their products, but the guarantee itself isn’t clear. It didn’t give a timeline or what to do if you’d like a refund—it simply stated that they will offer a replacement or a refund.
If you aren’t happy with the serum, I would try to reach out to them through their website. However, if you visit their website, you’ll see that it’s super sketchy and makes no sense, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t hear back.
